Frequently asked questions
Short and without detours.
- Can I use Nokatis alone, without a second person?
- Yes, explicitly. Nokatis works very well for self-coaching – the idea for Nokatis even came from that. You don't need anyone sitting across from you: the guide leads you through the conversation with yourself, you speak your answers out loud, and Nokatis handles the rest.
- Do I need a problem to use Nokatis?
- No. You don't need a problem to start here. Pure curiosity is enough.
- How long does it take until my report is ready?
- Just a few minutes. Once the conversation has ended and the transcript is available, Nokatis usually creates the report within 1 to 3 minutes.
- Is this therapy?
- No. Nokatis replaces neither psychotherapy nor medical treatment. In case of persistent low mood, anxiety or risk of self-harm: end the conversation and seek professional psychotherapeutic or medical help. Coaching means working on patterns, not treating illness. In an acute crisis in Germany, TelefonSeelsorge is available free, anonymously and around the clock at 0800 111 0 111 or 0800 111 0 222 and via chat at online.telefonseelsorge.de – in immediate danger call 112.
- Why does reflection with an AI companion work at all?
- Structured self-reflection is not a new idea but well researched: even simple, structured writing about important or difficult topics – known in psychology as “expressive writing”, shaped by the research of James Pennebaker – shows measurable effects on clarity and emotional processing. The difference at Nokatis: you are not writing into the void, you are guided by focused questions and get a structured analysis back. In the Zielcoach the same holds for goal-setting methodology itself (among others following Locke and Latham): concrete, measurable goals with regular review demonstrably increase the likelihood of actually reaching them, compared with vague intentions.
- What happens to my data?
- Transcripts and reports are transferred and stored encrypted, used solely for your own report and never for training AI models. The audio recording is deleted immediately after conversion into text. You handle deletion and export yourself in the archive. In detail: data security.
- How long does it take to create my report?
- The transcript is created continuously during the conversation and is ready shortly after you stop. The subsequent analysis usually takes one to three minutes; slightly longer for very long conversations. You stay on the page and see the progress.
- Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
- Yes, at any time effective at the end of the current billing period – directly in your account under “My membership”, without contacting support. All features stay available until the period ends. To my account.
- Who can see my results?
- Only you – nobody else. The single exception arises when you actively share your report via your coach's invitation link. That sharing is voluntary and can be revoked in the archive at any time.
- Do I need a second person for the conversation, or can I do it alone?
- Both work. For working alone there is self-coaching mode: speaker detection is switched off and the analysis reads your text as an inner monologue rather than a dialogue. Honestly, a second person usually gets you further because they ask again where you would skip past something – but they are not required.
- What if the conversation affects me strongly?
- You can pause at any time – even in the middle of a question. If memories weigh on you, stop, breathe, look around the room for a moment and then decide whether to continue. Every guide contains a section “Be gentle with” for this. If something keeps weighing on you or frightens you, please seek professional support: coaching is helpful, but it does not replace therapy or medical treatment.
- Where should I have the conversation?
- Best outside, while walking – briefly read the question, then speak your answer as you keep walking. A Stanford study shows that walking measurably boosts reflective thinking. Important: watch your surroundings, especially when crossing streets.
